Product Description

Antibiotics represent the drugs which are known to fight bacteria present in your body. Usually, antibiotics are used to treat various bacterial infections such as intestinal infections, skin infections, acne, eye infections, gum diseases, and more.

Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic which is used to treat certain bacterial infections, including the ones outlined above, but also chlamydia, gonorrhoea, blemished, acne lesions caused by conditions such as rosacea, facial redness and more. Together with this, some forms of the medicine are also used in order to prevent harmful diseases such as malaria, or to treat the painful bites associated with lice, ticks and mites.

What should you know before taking this medicine?

To kick things off, Doxycycline is often considered as a safe medicine. However, in case you are allergic to tetracycline antibiotics, or other substance associated with the drug, stay away from it. Children should be particularly wary considering the fact that with children younger than 8 years, the drug can cause permanent yellowing of the teeth. The drug can also be prescribed by your doctor for certain conditions, in which case, you should let your physician know if you suffer from liver and kidney disease, but also asthma, or have a history of increased pressure on the inside of your skull.

Make sure NOT to take Doxycycline in case you are pregnant, as doing so can cause permanent teeth discoloration of your child later in life, while also bringing other possible harmful effects. Together with this, also make sure not to breastfeed while you are taking the medicine.

When it comes down to taking Doxycycline, it is important to know that the drug should be taken with a full glass of water, and that you should consume plenty of liquids while you are using the drug as treatment. Another important factor worth pointing out is that you should use the medicine for the prescribed period of time, regardless of whether the condition of your infection has improved. In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, or skip it and take the next scheduled dose.

Are there any side effects associated with Doxycycline?

Yes, there are. Some of the common Doxycycline side effects include nausea, upset stomach, mild diarrhoea, vaginal itching/discharge, but also skin rashes or itching. In case you experience other side effects, call your doctor.

Based on everything that has been outlined so far, Doxycycline can be easily used to treat various infections. When it comes down to purchasing it, make sure you do so from a local pharmacy, or from authorized online ones. The price is generally low, so this shouldn’t represent a worry.
